According to recent complaints from many in the cryptocurrency community, the YouTube platform has removed a number of videos on digital currencies. And this to without warning. YouTube is undoubtedly the largest video platform in the entire world today. It has maintained its dominant position for over a decade and a half. Unfortunately, it has also had many problems with its creators over the years, often getting into conflicts with them. However, while most of these problems were rooted in real issues regarding the nature of published content (e.g. concerning patostreamers), the company is now cracking down on cryptocurrencies. Unfortunately, it's not clear why this is happening. Youtube attacks Bitcoin fans YouTube has removed a sizable but exactly unknown number of videos related to cryptocurrencies. An algorithm was probably behind this step, as both content related to financial pyramids that exploited the popularity of BTC, but also videos of an educational nature disappeared. YouTubers such as Chris Dunn (210,000 subscribers), Node Investor (54,000 subscribers), Chico Crypto (67,000 subscribers) and many others are now complaining about the situation via Twitter. Some content creators have only been banned for a week, and some potentially for even longer. It is possible that they will end their careers altogether. Meanwhile, YouTube has only notified creators of the issue via email, writing that their videos violate the platform's community guidelines. The platform has classified the content as "harmful or dangerous." Other social media It's just as hard to promote posts about cryptocurrencies on Facebook today, even though the site is working on its own digital currency, Libra. However, it is possible to create fan pages there. Twitter, on the other hand, is very supportive and will most likely remain so. Its founder and CEO, Jack Dorsey, is even talking about plans to move Twitter to blockchain and make it decentralized. He has even set up a special team to design such a solution. It is not fully clear why YouTube has decided to fight against cryptocurrencies. However, the platform should remember that the trend of Bitcoin and its derivatives will probably grow stronger and fighting it will be disadvantageous for the portal.
