While Bitcoin is making its way quite slowly to online trading in Europe or North America, there are areas of the world where Bitcoin's expansion is much faster.     While in Europe or North America Bitcoin is paving its way rather slowly into online trading, there are regions of the world where Bitcoin's expansion is much faster.   In September, we reported on the adoption of Bitcoin by the largest auction site in Latin America. Today it's time for its South African counterpart, BidOrBuy.co.za. The portal has been operating for 17 years on a similar principle as our Allegro, and its base currency is the rand. Since the first of March every seller on BidOrBuy can enable payment in BTC. Bitcoins are automatically converted into rands by the portal, on which a commission of 2.28% is charged. However, it is not clear if the seller has the option to withdraw funds in BTC as well, which would be very beneficial in strengthening the bitcoin economy. Either way, this event will definitely strengthen bitcoin's position in Africa. Due to the underdeveloped banking infrastructure, alternative payment methods are hitting fertile ground there.   Tags Africa acceptances bitcoin btc e-commerce trading platform
