Medicover Hospital in Warsaw, part of the international Medicover Group, is working on enabling payments in bitcoin. The solution will be dedicated to patients who use the hospital services as part of medical tourism. The system is to be implemented next year.   Medicover Hospital in Warsaw will be the first hospital honouring payments in bitcoin. This form of payment will cover all performed services, including surgeries in vascular surgery, bariatrics, neurosurgery, and cardiology. Currently, around the world bitcoin can be used to pay in many small clinics and private medical practices, but this option only covers consultations or dental services.   Bitcoin, or virtual currency, is an increasingly popular method of payment. Transactions conducted using bitcoin are anonymous, and commissions for paying with bitcoin are nominal. Transactions are not subject to territorial restrictions and, even those abroad, are processed in real time. This means that the payment is immediately transferred from the payer's virtual wallet to the service provider. At the same time the system is considered to be very secure.   The decision to introduce the possibility of payment in bitcoin at Medicover Hospital was motivated by the dynamic development of services for foreigners. Every year more than 5,000 foreign patients receive treatment at Medicover Hospital," comments Dariusz Malczyk, Head of Customer Services and Sales at Medicover Hospital.   According to the Group's plans, bitcoin payments will, for the time being, only be accepted at the Medicover Hospital in the Warsaw district of Wilanów. The implementation is planned for early 2015.   We have been working for some time to align our payment procedures with international standards. The first step was the introduction of the price list "International Diagnosis Resource Grouping" (DRG - equivalent to Single Patient Groups), which has been adopted by the International Health Commission. This form of pricing for services based on DRG is accepted by most international institutions and more than 100 insurance companies around the world. Implementing payment in bitcoin is the next step in our strategy. - says Tucson Dunn, Director of Medicover Hospital Development.   Medicover Hospital offers medical services in the field of gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care, which makes it a multi-specialty care center. The facility's team consists of 170 doctors, 80 nurses and 20 technicians. Since 2011, the Hospital also provides services on the basis of a contract signed with the National Health Fund, which gives the possibility to use its services to patients covered by the state medical care.     The photo comes from the public profile of Medicover Hospital on google+     Tags acceptance bitcoin Center doctor Medicover Medicover clinic clinics
