According to a recent Bitflyer exchange survey of 10,000 European residents, 63% of those surveyed believe cryptocurrencies will still be around in 10 years. Interestingly, however, respondents were not so sure about Bitcoin (BTC) - only 49% of them believe that the major digital currency will still be around in a decade. The survey was conducted among residents of Norway, France, Belgium, Germany and a few other countries (including Poland). Are cryptocurrencies with us permanently? Residents of Norway seem extremely positive about the future of cryptocurrencies, as up to 73% believe that digital currencies will continue to trend upwards. Next in the optimism category are those from Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Denmark and Germany. In contrast, respondents from Belgium, the UK and France showed stronger pessimism ("believers" in crypto are less than 60% there). Andy Bryant, COO of Bitflyer Europe, commented on the results as follows: "It's very easy to forget that new cryptocurrencies are still being created; we've only just celebrated Bitcoin's 10th birthday, so [that] the majority of consumers believe in the future of cryptocurrencies is undoubtedly an achievement." What about Bitcoin? When it comes to Bitcoin (BTC) itself, Europeans are a little less confident about the future. Despite this, still 49% of all respondents believe that BTC will be with us in 10 years. If we look at individual countries, this is the opinion of: 55% of Italians, 53% of Poles, 51% of Spaniards and Dutch, and equal half of Norwegians. The least optimistic countries are Denmark (49%), Belgium (45%), UK (43%) and France (40%). The survey shows that a sizable portion of Europeans believe that digital content will do well over the next 10 years in terms of the overall economy. On the other hand, respondents showed a little less optimism about BTC. Some of them believe that the current king of the market may leave the throne within the next decade. Why this pessimism? Certainly, it is influenced by some technological problems of BTC, which are constantly being corrected. Moreover, new projects, such as Ethereum, are constantly emerging on the digital currency market, which may eventually take over Bitcoin's capitalization.
