Cryptocurrencies in Belarus legal and tax-free from 28 March The regulation, which President Alexander Lukashenko signed back in December, is to come into force on March 28 this year. The presidential document referred to as: "Decree No. 8 'On the Development of the Digital Economy'" legalizes the use of cryptocurrency and smart-contract technologies in the country, as well as projects funded on the basis of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings). "The decree authorizes legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating in the [special economic zone] High Technology Park (HTP) to perform operations using tokens (including cryptocurrencies). Other persons may use tokens on the territory of Belarus through HTP residents." - explains the lawyer of one of the Belarusian law firms Mikhel & Partners, Iryna Chelyshava. Additionally, all activity related to mining, creation, acquisition as well as disposal of cryptocurrencies is to be exempt from taxation until 2023. USA: $65 million BTC mine nears completion The 7800 m2 center located in Virginia Beach, Virginia on the east coast of the United States will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country. One of the local companies, Bcause LLC, is responsible for the project. The initiative, at least in this form, would not have come to fruition. At one of its stages, Bcause was even considering re-branding the project. However, the local government came to the rescue, offering tax breaks and giving the company a one-time grant of $500,000. The Bcause Center will offer its clients the possibility of leasing excavators to mine bitcoin and bitcoin cash. The price of such a service is about $5,000 per year. The facility is expected to be launched before the end of next week. 215,000 signatures in defense of cryptocurrencies A petition against strict regulation of cryptocurrencies has already been signed by 215,000 Koreans. The minimum required number of signatures for the government to officially respond to an issue is 200,000 votes. This limit has thus been exceeded. South Korea can therefore be congratulated for having a strong and numerous community. The number of signatures also illustrates the popularity of cryptocurrencies in the country.
