Become a blockchain engineer in China China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) recently announced that two new professions have been added to the list of official occupations: "Blockchain Engineer" and "Blockchain Application Operator." The list defines a "Blockchain Engineer" as a person who works on architecture design, programming, system applications and testing. A "Blockchain Application Operator" focuses on technicians who use blockchain applications in industry, education, or the public sector. Recognizing a blockchain engineer as a completely different profession than a software engineer is important to the industry because it allows statisticians, to understand the size of the workforce and participation. Universities will be able to look at industry demand and plan curricula accordingly. As another example, the first sign of a bubble bursting in the Blockchain sector may occur when the number of employed Blockchain engineers decreases and the number of general software engineers increases. If the number of people employed in blockchain professions, grows year after year, it will be a sign that the industry is sustainable. The official designation of blockchain professions, also marks the beginning of the regulatory process in the industry. ST Daily reported that people working in the blockchain industry, like other professions, also have their own code of ethics. People have reacted positively to the new news. China Daily's announcement garnered 1,500 likes and 450 shares, on social media platform Weibo. Some blockchain-related companies, posted recruitment announcements in the comments: "We are hiring blockchain engineers, write a private message for more information." The changing face of China's economy The first official census of occupations in China was published in 1999. It is updated annually with new professions as the economy grows and new industries emerge. In 2019, for example, professions such as "eSport Athlete" and "Drone Pilot" have been added to it, reflecting the continued growth of the e-sports industry and the ever-increasing commercial and government applications of drones.
