Italy is positively surprising. According to new data from marketing analytics firm SEMRush, Bitcoin (BTC) is the third most popular online payment method in the country. Italy: Bitcoin takes third place On October 31, Italian daily La Stampa reported that Boston-based marketing analytics firm SEMRush found that in the list of the most used online payment systems in Italy, Bitcoin ranks a strong third. Only PayPal and Italian prepaid card platform PostePay are ahead of the cryptocurrency. The data further revealed that Italians use Bitcoin to make online purchases on a larger scale than they do using traditional credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard or American Express. According to La Stampa, Bitcoin is used more than 215,000 times per month during various online purchases in Italy, while American Express is only used 189,000 times per month. Visa, MasterCard and other credit cards, meanwhile, handle just 33,950 online transactions per month. PayPal and PostePay in the lead California-based online payment service PayPal, meanwhile, remains the undisputed leader in the Italian online payment market with about 1.3 million payment transactions per month. Italian payment processor PostePay, however, handles slightly less, with 1.2 million transactions per month. It's worth noting that the data didn't include the number of PayPal and PostePay accounts that are linked to credit cards, so the results could be even better for the two leaders. However, this does not detract from Bitcoin's success in the country. Italians are buying more and more online La Stampa wrote that in 2018, the total value of e-commerce transactions was more than €40 billion, with as many as 62% of Italians making at least one online purchase that year. It remains to wait for 2019 figures. BTC payments in Poland It is worth reminding that making payments with BTC is also quite easy in our country.
