If one were to ask on the Polish Internet what "Taringa!" is, few would be able to answer this question without resorting to a search engine. Meanwhile, it is a very popular Spanish-speaking social network in South America. Taringa! was founded in 2004 and currently has over 27 million registered users. The nature of this portal is slightly different than Facebook or Google+. It can be described as a cross between the blogosphere and a multi-topic discussion forum. The owners of the portal care about rewarding the original creativity of the users. That is why they created the project "Taringa! Creadores" project, which consists in sharing the profit from advertising with the authors of the best content. The system is connected with the tip mechanism and the ranking of entries. As you can guess the value carrier in the "Taringa! Creadores" project is bitcoin. On the one hand, bitcoin is easily integrated with content reward systems (as active users of our forum know), on the other hand, it may be easier to "handle" for South Americans, where traditional banking is much less developed than, for example, in Europe. Co-founder of the company, Hernán Botbol, expressed it as follows: We thought about this project because, firstly, we want to encourage our users to create interesting content, and secondly, we think it's fair to share some of the profits. After all, we owe everything we have to our users and their creativity. Unfortunately, we have not been able to implement this idea before because the local financial infrastructure is frighteningly poor. Even if we sent someone a check, given the paucity of banking services, they would have no idea what to do with it." Admittedly, one can make the argument that an Argentine can't buy bread for breakfast with BTC (for now), but Taringa! wants to jumpstart bitcoin trading by offering all sorts of goods for BTC, digital goods to start with, namely games and music (Taringa! also owns a music streaming service). This may sound unimpressive, but on the other hand tens of millions of mostly young people will have the opportunity to come into contact with bitcoin, learn about it from the practical side and get small amounts into their wallets. Discovering that BTC is a global currency should not be difficult for them. Taringa! in implementing this ambitious project is not alone. Bitcoin infrastructure is provided by Xapo, an American company that already runs web and mobile wallet services and secure bitcoin storage. Xapo has also launched a payment card with automatic conversion of bitcoin into traditional currencies. Tags bitcoin btc Facebook social network social networks Taringa!
