The Chamber of Commerce of Blockchain and New Technologies (IGBiNT) has just published its announcement concerning the "Superwizjera" report, which was aired over a week ago by TVN24 station. The topic of the program was BitBay and cryptocurrencies. IGBiNT: we are only interested in educational issues IGBiNT stresses that it is only interested in educational issues. "As the Board of the Chamber, we do not want to enter into legal disputes and controversies related to the aired program. Our position is that TVN and Bitbay will explain it themselves. We refer to the TVN material only as educational - we want to facilitate future interpretations of the market. We also want to show that even for experts from related markets blockchain technology is difficult and complex - just like the operation of digital currencies based on it". - wrote the release at the outset. "In the video, we addressed passages that we believe are hurtful to the industry as a whole and put all digital currency users in a very bad light," - it further added. Myths that need to be debunked The chamber's management also stresses that "the scale of the use of digital currencies for crime" is not at all as widespread as the authors of the said report suggest. "(...) it is a fraction of a percent of the entire digital currency market, and compared to crimes committed with the participation of the regular financial market, these values are completely marginal. This is due, among other things, to the ease with which transactions performed in open blockchains can be tracked and analyzed,"² - claim the chamber's experts. "The report cited in the video can be downloaded from https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/cryptocurrency-crime-2020-report" - cite the sources. They go on to cite a chart "showing the share of crime-related trading relative to total digital currency market trading - you can see that this is typically less than 1% of the market, and the share of ransomware and terrorist financing is unreadable." The Chamber also refers to an interview it gave on the material: Let's remind that the not very, apparently, reliable material of "Superwizjera" has also already commented on the Polish Bitcoin Association, about which we wrote in more detail here. Sylwester Suszek from BitBay also commented on the matter. You can read his opinion on our portal here. Tags bitbay chamber of commerce blockchain and new technologies superwizjer tvn
