Offering wallet, payment processor and bitcoin exchange services, Coinbase is expanding its services to the UK. UK residents are the first in Europe to gain access to the recently launched exchange, Coinbase Exchange.   Brits now get the ability to sell and buy bitcoin on the aforementioned exchange (as well as via their Coinbase wallet), as well as two new currency pairs for trading BTC/GBP, as well as BTC/EUR and access to bitcoin payment processing tools for business.   Additionally, they will also be able to fund their Coinbase wallets with British pounds and US dollars via standard bank transfers. Transferring via the SEPA system will allow them to fund those same accounts in Euros.   Our mission at Coinbase is to make payments around the world more open and efficient. Expanding services to the UK is an important step in that direction, making it easier for one of the world's financial capitals to access bitcoin." - reads the official statement posted on the Coinbase blog.   One of the company's co-founders and CEO, Brian Armstrong, also comments on the company's decision:   The level of interest [in Bitcoin] in the UK is currently at a different level than elsewhere in Europe. We felt that demand was really high there ... London is the financial capital of the world, so it was a logical next step."   Armstrong also mentions his company's growth plans for the near future:   One of our goals is to have our services, at least in portfolio form, available in 40 countries before the end of this year, which is quite ambitious - we're currently in 24 countries. But I think it is very much possible.   Indeed, the expansion of Coinbase's reach and service palette has been gaining clear momentum in recent months. The company has already managed to raise a total of $106 million in investment capital. It now already employs over 105 people (in various countries), boasting some 2.1 million individual users and over 39,000 merchants using its offerings.     Any reproduction, distribution, electronic processing and transmission of content from bitcoin.pl website requires prior consent of the portal.   Tags England bitcoin Brian Armstrong coinbase Coinbase Exchange Exchange exchange cryptocurrencies wallet payment processor
