Visa is developing its plan to support Bitcoin (BTC) and the cryptocurrency space in general. In a new post on its blog, the payments giant states that it realizes the large role of digital assets when it comes to the future of money. Visa opens up about cryptocurrencies "The concept of digital currency - that is, a digital version of cash controlled by a private key - emerged more than a decade ago, with the launch [of] Bitcoin. Now fiat-based digital currencies, commonly referred to as 'stablecoins,' have emerged as a promising new payment innovation that combines the advantages of digital currencies with the stability of existing currencies such as the U.S. dollar," - Visa's blog post now reads. Visa, by the way, has already been active in the cryptocurrency space for some time, partnering with cryptocurrency platforms like Coinbase and Fold. The company says it plans to expand its services to digital currency wallets as part of its FastTrack program, allowing fintechs to integrate with the global network of 61 million outlets that use Visa services. It probably goes without saying how great of an opportunity this presents for the BTC market and how it will simultaneously strengthen the fundamentals. This is just the beginning! The company says it is just getting started and plans to expand its support for cryptocurrency assets, with more digital currency-related announcements to come in the future. "We have been steadily developing our digital currency strategy for some time. Last year we invested in Anchorage, a company that builds security infrastructure for the digital currency ecosystem. We believe that digital currencies have the potential to increase the value of digital payments for more people and places. As such, we want to help shape and support the role they will play in the future of money. We look forward to sharing more about this work with you in the coming months." - The announcement added. Visa says it is already working with leaders from the political world and regulators to ensure that its digital currency strategy comes to fruition. We'll likely learn more about the details, the post added, in a few months. Tags Visa visa btc visa cryptocurrencies
